ANOIS Ensemble is a new ensemble consisting of a group of Ireland’s most dynamic and experienced solo and ensemble singers. The musicians you will hear tonight have performed together for many years in various ensembles and performed their first concert to a capacity audience at Hugh Lane Gallery in 2022. Performing without a conductor, the group explores an intimate chamber-style of performance. Joined by renowned harpist, Siobhán Armstrong, ANOIS will perform a selection of pieces by John Dowland, Claudio Monteverdi and Barbara Strozzi, exploring how each composer expresses the emotion of the text through music and the timeless beauty of the combination of voices and plucked strings.

The Dirty Jazz Club has been an integral and underground part of the Irish jazz scene for over a quarter of a century. Formed during a time of economic growth in the late 90’s, their name evoked corners of the capital untouched by leather sofas, the jazz brunch and Irish coffees. The group’s first gigs were in an anarchist social centre where they provided an alternative focus for jazz listeners, where extended solos, group communication, human feeling and textural soundscape could breathe freely, through the music of John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis and others.

The Dirty Jazz Band Club are, Conor Murray (Drums), Derek Whyte (bass), Darragh O’Kelly (keys), Cathal Roche (alto saxophone), Colm O’Hara (trombone) and Bill Blackmore (trumpet).
