4th June Live at Bello Bar..
Marking the half way point in our season, our Wednesday 4th June Kaleidoscope Night features a richly textured line up that spans Irish, Finnish and American contemporary works, 20th-century Russian repertoire, and traditional Persian and Indian classical music, performed by some of Ireland’s most renowned and innovative musicians.
Evlana brings us shimmering soundscapes and intimate textures, featuring Kaija Saariaho’s Changing Light for soprano and flute, John Buckley’s virtuosic Three Pieces for Solo Flute, Linda Buckley’s haunting Revelavit for soprano and electronics, and Cathy Purcell’s delicate Droplet for soprano and flute.
Violinist Larissa O’Grady is dedicated to performing and commissioning new and experimental music, for this concert we delighted that she brings us Andrew Norman’s beautiful “Sabina”
We are thrilled to welcome The Libra Ensemble to our stage for the first time. A perfect fit for Kaleidoscope Night, this ensemble is driven by a mission to reimagine and re-invigorate how classical music performance is experienced, enjoyed, and engaged with. Repertoire is learned by heart, freeing the musicians to fully use the performance space.
Your curious ears will be intrigued further by Shahab Coohe and Matthew Noone. Rooted in improvisation, their performance explores the metaphysical depths of Persian and Indian classical music, while weaving in subtle echoes of Irish and electroacoustic influences.
