This April Fools' Day, Kaleidoscope Night delivers a genre-defying line up at Bello Bar. On Wednesday, 1st April, the evening promises a signature Kaleidoscope journey: a deep dive into the evolution of sound, moving from the gut-string resonance of the Baroque on to the modern instruments of the classical era, delving in to the 20th century and on to the soulful alt-folk sounds of I Draw Slow.

The Classical Set: Historical & Modern Perspectives Led by acclaimed clarinettist Berginald Rash, the ensemble explores the rich textures of the clarinet and strings across three centuries:

·      G.P. Telemann | Fantasia No. 1 in B-flat Major, TWV 40:14 Performed on period viola by  Giammaria Tesei.

·       Bernhard Henrik Crusell | Quartet No. 2 in C minor, Op. 4.Performed on period clarinet with gut string trio, capturing the woody, intimate character of the early 19th century.

·       Darius Milhaud | "Jeu" from Suite op. 157b violin & clarinet

·       Jean Françaix | Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet The ensemble pivots to modern instruments for these works, meeting the dazzling, acrobatic demands of 20th-century French Neoclassicism.

The Folk Feature: I Draw Slow Adding a change of pace to the evening, the internationally acclaimed and award winning five-piece I Draw Slow will take the stage. Known for their "alt-country" flair and masterful song writing, the band blends traditional Irish roots with Americana. Led by siblings Louise and Dave Holden and featuring Kaleidoscope’s very own Adrian hart on fiddle.

“a confident and distinctive blend of American bluegrass and Irish sensibility…something special’
